The Westminster Christian Academy baseball team concluded a memorable season with a fourth-place finish at the Class 4 State Baseball Championships held June 3-4 at the Ozark Mountain Sports Complex in Ozark, Missouri.
The Wildcats opened the Final Four against Orchard Farm in a thrilling semifinal matchup that came down to the final inning. Westminster jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after the first inning, but the Eagles responded throughout the game to claim an 11-10 victory.
Orchard Farm capitalized on timely opportunities and held off a late Wildcats rally. Westminster scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and brought the tying run to the plate before the comeback fell just short.
In the third-place game, the Wildcats faced Springfield Catholic in another tightly contested battle. The game remained tied through five innings before the Fightin' Irish scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Westminster battled until the final out but ultimately fell 4-3, earning a fourth-place finish in Class 4.
The Wildcats closed the season with a 23-17 record and one of the program's most successful postseason runs in recent memory. Reaching the state semifinals and finishing among the top four teams in Missouri is a testament to the hard work, perseverance, and commitment displayed by the players and coaching staff throughout the season.
