Wildcats Win Ft. Zumwalt East Tournament

The Westminster softball team put together a dominant weekend at the Ft. Zumwalt East Tournament, rolling through three games to capture the championship.

In the quarterfinals, the Wildcats defeated St. Charles West 9-3 behind a balanced effort in the circle. Junior Jaymison Lenk and sophomore Charlie Berkmeyer split pitching duties, striking out three batters each. At the plate, Lenk led the way with four hits, including three doubles, while sophomore Morgan Dolley added two hits to spark the offense.

The Wildcats advanced to the semifinals and shut down Lutheran St. Charles 5-0. Lenk was dominant, striking out 11 batters in a complete-game performance. She also helped her own cause at the plate with three hits, while Dolley and junior Abby Milge each chipped in two hits.

The championship matchup against Seckman ended in a convincing 14-4 win. Berkmeyer pitched all five innings, striking out five batters, and backed herself up offensively with four hits. Junior Sophia Bell delivered a big performance with three hits and three RBIs as the Wildcats' bats stayed hot.

With strong pitching, timely hitting, and contributions up and down the lineup, Westminster left little doubt on their way to claiming the tournament crown.
