On Wednesday, the Westminster cross country team kicked off their season at the Fleet Feet Classic at Arnold City Park. The two-mile event featured varsity fields of 19 teams, with the top 30 individuals in each category earning medals.
In the girls' varsity race, the Wildcats secured 13th place. Senior and first-year runnerĀ Anna Drochelman led the team, finishing 15th with a time of 12:41.1, which made her the top medalist for the Wildcats.
The boys' varsity team also started the season strong, placing 7th in the team rankings. They boasted two individual medalists: sophomores Theo Deboer, who finished 17th with a time of 10:27.2, and Cruz Thomas, who came in 24th at 10:38.9.
The cross country program is now gearing up for its next challenge at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival on September 14.
