The Westminster Wildcats boys soccer team brought home their first Metro League Tournament championship in five years, capping an impressive tournament run with a 3-0 win over John Burroughs in the final.
In the quarterfinal, the Wildcats edged Priory 2-1 behind goals from senior Krew Collison and sophomore Jude Ewing, with assists from seniors Owen Legters and Hampton Pfuetze. Senior keeper Jacob Stinebaker made key stops to seal the win.
The semifinal featured a 1-0 victory over defending champion St. Dominic. Senior Adriel Monga converted a late penalty kick, while Stinebaker and junior Campbell Nabours shared the shutout in goal.
In the championship match, Ewing powered the attack with two goals, and Stinebaker delivered a clean sheet as the Wildcats rolled past John Burroughs 3-0 to claim the crown. It was the Wildcats first win over the Bombers since a 1-0 victory on September 20, 2018 making this victory especially sweet!
