The boys soccer program kicked off its season participating in the eight-team Metro League tournament, with St. Dominic stepping in to replace Lutheran North.
The Wildcats began their tournament facing the Lancers of Lutheran South in the quarterfinals. Sophomore Campbell Nabours and junior Jacob Stinebaker shared goalkeeper duties, collectively conceding only one goal. Senior Austin McCarthy was pivotal in the offense, scoring two goals and assisting sophomore Blake Bachelier, propelling the Wildcats to a 3-1 victory and a spot in the semifinals.
In the semifinal clash against Priory, junior Adriel Monga was instrumental, assisting junior Krew Collison and scoring a goal off a pass from McCarthy. Despite a resilient effort from Priory, a 2-1 victory saw the Wildcats advance to the championship match against St. Dominic.
In the championship game, St. Dominic was in peak form, netting three goals in the first half. They maintained their momentum, adding two more goals to secure a 5-0 victory over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will have an opportunity for redemption when they visit St. Dominic on October 17. Until then, they have a busy schedule with several conference matchups and participation in this year's inaugural Champions League.
