This week Wildcat tennis hosted the Metro League Tournament on Tuesday and Thursday. The event included many of the top players in the St. Louis area.
On the singles side of the competitions, the Wildcats saw a lot of promising success. In the first round the Wildcats advanced all of their entries in each flight, moving everyone on to the semi final round. In the Semifinals the Cats picked up two more wins; Sophomore Noah Suthar had a dominant 8-1 win in the 2nd flight over a very good player from John Burroughs to push himself into the championship, and Henry Schloss advanced to the championship in flight 7. The Wildcats would go on to have a top 3 finisher in 5 of the 8 singles flights.
On the doubles side, their success continued. The Wildcats would end up taking 3rd in 5 of the 6 doubles flights. The sum result of the finishes placed the team 3rd overall in the tournament behind MICDS and last year's Class 3 State Runner-up John Burroughs.
This was a great preview of the competition Wildcat tennis will see in the postseason. We are excited to see them continue their success!
