Last Friday's football game at Clayton marked significant milestones for senior
Cal Leighton and sophomore
Will Powers, as they etched their names into Wildcat football history.
After three seasons of quarterback being his primary offensive position, Cal made the full-time switch to receiver this off-season, a move that has paid off tremendously. Through two games he is the Wildcats leading receiver, pulling in 10 catches for 267 yards and 4 touchdowns. A bulk of his production came on September 6 in a game against the Greyhounds. Cal made his way into the endzone 3 times while racking up 215 yards. With those numbers, he tied the single game receiving touchdown record, and ranked 2nd in single game receiving yards.
In his first year as starter for the Wildcats, Powers is getting off to a hot start. While under center against the Greyhounds, Will accumulated 4 touchdowns which is a tie for 2nd all-time for the Wildcats. Will only threw a single incompletion in the game, completing 16 straight to end the contest with a completion percentage just over 94%, slotting in as 3rd best in program history.
Congratulations Cal and Will on cementing yourselves in Wildcat football history, we look forward to seeing your continued success this season!
