Earlier in the week, sophomores
Charlie Kruse and
Ben Weinstein played in the Class 4 State Tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.
During Monday morning's first round of competition,
Charlie Kruse found himself at the top of the leaderboard early, with birdies on 5 of his first 9 holes. He finished round one with a final score of +1 (73), placing him into the final grouping for the second round on Tuesday.
In a day with tough conditions and intermittent rain, Charlie continued to have a great tournament. In his second round he carded 12 pars on his way to a +8 (80) on the day.
With a cumulative score of 153, Charlie finished in 11th place, making him a state medalist and a member of the Class 4 All-State Team.
Ben Weinstein played two consistent rounds of golf, shooting 88 and 89 for a cumulative score of 177 on the two day event, good for a T-72 finish.
Congratulations to the Westminster boys golf team on a great season and to Charlie on his individual medal. The future is bright for the Wildcat program with three state qualifiers (Kruse and Weinstein in 2024, junior
Rhoads Hall in 2023) returning next spring.
