Westminster Boys Basketball coach Dale Ribble (#20 pictured above) has been a coach for a majority of his life, however, this week he was recognized for his playing career, being named to the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Attending high school at Millard South in Omaha, Dale was a star as a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball. On the diamond, he helped his team to a legion summer state championship. On the court, he was a driving force in back-to-back state championships in his junior and senior year (1988 and 1989). The 1988-89 state championship team was the last undefeated Class A team in Nebraska and was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Today, Dale still holds three program records for Millard South: career 3-pt percentage, season 3-pt percentage, and season steals.

Dale continued his basketball career at Missouri State (then Southwest Missouri State) where he had a successful career. In his four years as a Bear he helped lead the team to two NIT appearances and two NCAA tournament appearances.

Coaching runs in the Ribble family as Dale played basketball for his father, Larry at Millard South. Coach Larry Ribble is the third coach from the right in the picture above and is also a member of the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame for the achievements of the teams that he guided during his career. Dale started his coaching career at the college level, making stops at Hastings, Missouri State, Drury, and UMSL as an assistant coach, and Lindenwood and State Fair Community College as a Head Coach. In 2016 he joined the Westminster community as a physical education teacher and head basketball coach. In his 8 years at the helm, he has led the team to 161 wins, 3 district championships, and a Class 5 State 2nd place finish in 2021.

Dale will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska in September for the induction ceremony. Congratulations to Coach Ribble on this great recognition. We are proud to have you as a part of the Westminster family!
