The regular season closer saw a thrilling battle between the Wildcats and Crusaders. Through the first three quarters the teams traded scores back and forth. They were tied at 14-14 heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats broke the draw with sophomore Will Powers finding senior Peter Kats in the back  of the end zone. A successful PAT from junior Stavros Afentoullis pushed the Wildcat lead to 7. 

The Crusaders narrowed the score on the back of an impressive drive from senior back Kaynen Simmons capped with a forceful 1 yard run to put the Crusaders down a single point.  The St. Dominic coach went with his gut and fed the hard to tackle Simmons again on the two-pt conversion try for the lead. A slew of Wildcats led by senior Case-Edward Miller broke through the line and stopped Simmons for a loss protecting the one point lead with less than three minutes to play.

The risky conversion attempt then forced the impending Crusader onside kick attempt. Senior Ridge Cathcart ran forward to recover the ball on it's first high hop after 5 yards catching the Crusaders by surprise and sprinted through the defense untouched for a game sealing 45 yard kick return touchdown.

The great win for the Wildcats pushes the teams record to 5-4. The team slots as the #3 seed in the district tournament, allowing the seniors at least one more contest on the home turf. They will play #6 seeded St. Charles this coming Saturday at 1 p.m. in a rematch of the first week of the season.
