Field Hockey Wraps Up Season with Sweet Sixteen Appearance

The Westminster Field Hockey team opened postseason play with an impressive 4-0 victory over Edwardsville in the Round of 32 on Wednesday at Lafayette High School.

Junior Sydney Simmons led the offensive charge, scoring a hat trick to power the Wildcats past the Tigers. Junior Annie Bendick added another goal, while senior Ansley McGowan tallied two assists. Junior Caroline Campbell and senior Peyton Simmons each added an assist to round out a well-balanced offensive effort.

On the defensive end, senior Audrie Bockman anchored the Wildcats with six saves, earning the shutout and helping Westminster advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

In their next matchup, the Wildcats faced a tough challenge against John Burroughs on Saturday, falling 8-0 to the second-seeded Bombers. Despite the loss, Westminster's playoff run showcased the team's growth and teamwork throughout the season.

The Wildcats finish the year proud of their postseason success and the strong performances from players across all classes, setting the stage for another competitive campaign next fall.
